Job Summary | The Games and Simulation Arts and Sciences Program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute invites applications for a faculty position in Game Development to begin Fall 2024, to teach courses in game design, development, and production. Appointment will be at the rank of Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, or Professor of Practice, with a multi-year, renewable contract. |
Minimum Qualifications | Applicants must possess an MFA, PhD, or foreign equivalent in Game Design, Digital Media, Computer Science, or a closely related field. Evidence of effective teaching, and the ability to demonstrate, through accomplishment, promise of academic, scholarly and/or research achievement. They will demonstrate proficiency in one or more game engines, along with a robust background in project management and production processes within the gaming industry. Additionally, candidates must exhibit a commitment to fostering a collaborative and inclusive learning environment. For appointment at the rank of Senior Lecturer, candidates must also have attained a significant level of scholarly activity, research output, or individual creative practice. A Professor of Practice has obtained unique professional experience, has distinguished research, and/or has performed at an executive or officer level, and has made a significant impact within the field of games. A Professor of Practice is expected to have substantial leadership experience of at least (10-15 years) and generally a national or international reputation for excellence in their field of expertise. Job Summary | The Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences (E&ES) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY invites applications for one open rank, and one assistant level tenure-track/tenured position, both in Earth Systems Science. Research areas in the E&ES Department currently include experimental, analytical, and environmental geochemistry, petrology of Earth’s systems, biogeochemistry, astrobiology, geomicrobiology, and modern and ancient climate change. We are seeking applicants whose research will complement and grow these strengths, and whose research programs address fundamental problems in Earth Systems science, including, but not limited to: 1. Natural systems and environmental geochemistry, global change, critical zone science, soil science, environmental mineralogy. Any candidate with a computational approach in the above research areas is also encouraged to apply. The successful candidates will have duties that include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences, engaging in the Geology and Environmental Sciences undergraduate degree programs, developing and maintaining robust programs of research and scholarship, and providing service to the department, the School of Science, and to Rensselaer. The E&ES department maintains cross disciplinary collaborations with several of Rensselaer’s research initiatives, including the Center for Environmental Stable Isotope Analysis (CESIA), the Future of Computing Institute (FOCI; http://idea.rpi.edu), and the Darrin Fresh Water Institute (DFWI) at Lake George (http://jeffersonproject.rpi.edu). As a Foster Care Home Finder, you will recruit, train, certify, and maintain foster and pre-adoptive foster homes to children from birth through age 21 who have been removed from their homes and placed in foster care. Each foster parent receives training and ongoing professional support to promote a positive, successful experience. You will report to the Foster Care Recruitment Coordinator and you will work on-site
Responsibilities:
- Participate actively in community activities and events to recruit foster parents
- Participate in developing an active recruitment plan for recruiting foster parents
- Handle inquiries and applications from potential foster parents
- Facilitate all orientation meetings with potential foster parents
- Complete all paperwork for the certification process
- Prepare and present NTDC training for potential foster parents
- Assess families’ ability to foster children as it relates to the 14 Characteristics of Successful Parents who Foster or Adopt
- Complete home studies for all recommended foster homes
- Conduct safety assessments to assure the health and safety of foster homes
- Facilitate agency pre-certification trainings
- Maintain certified foster family records
- Handle the recertification process, including development of yearly reauthorization narrative with each family, assessing strengths and needs of the foster home
- Provide ongoing training and support for certified parents in conjunction with the foster care team
- Check with certified families on quarterly basis to monitor strengths and needs of the foster home
- Consult with Program Coordinator on homes and placement of children
- Coordinate annual holiday party and a foster parent appreciation event as retention efforts
Requirements and Education:
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, sociology, psychology, education or related field

Description
As a Greenhouse Coordinator, you will development and implementation of the botanical classroom instructional plans for students. You will report to the Transition Learning Coordinator and you will work onsite.
Responsibilities:
- Provide subject area instruction (Green house and plan based botanical) that provides students with appropriate level lessons and age experiences.
- Develop and implement instructional materials to provide individual and small group instruction to students of various ability levels grades 8 -12.
- Provide leadership in the school for promoting green house and gardening activities and experiences for students. Work with teachers to encourage classroom, small group, and individual activities, projects, and events.
- Coordinate the selection, ordering, and management of materials and equipment for the greenhouse and greenhouse related activities in conjunction with the school principal.
- Collect and organize program data for grant proposals and reports and assists in writing grants.
- Assist classroom staff with crisis prevention and intervention techniques; assist classroom staff with de-escalation techniques with appropriate; teach students appropriate behavior strategies.
- Represent the greenhouse and gardens at relevant conferences, community events andnetworking opportunities. Conduct workshops, tastings, classroom activities and garden clubs.
- Manage and coordinate the safety and well-being of students through the use of established classroom and schoolwide processes and procedures; supervise classroom staff in implementing these with their work with students throughout the building.
- Follow school and agency procedures and policies for reporting incidents. This includes behavior incident reports (IR) and incidents such as child/sexual abuse, substance abuse, harassment, bullying, and violence.
- Establish relationships with parents and family members to create a partnership around student treatment, student behavior, and academic progress.
- Participate in classroom grade level, and behavior/treatment meetings as well as professional training and development sessions (e.g. TCI, CPR, emergency procedures and other agency requirements.
- Follow all Agency policies and procedures, along with state and federal regulations pertaining to our school and students.
- Facilitate partnership between the greenhouse activities and gardens through home and school education programs by coordinating community workshops, recruiting home garden volunteers.
- Work with other teachers, clinicians, administrators, medical staff and other school staff to provide integrated support, assistance, and treatment to students.
- Assist with supervision of school-to-work program activities as needed.
Requirements and Education:
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or other related field with experience with greenhouse operation.
- Prefer experience teaching in a greenhouse environment.

As a Recruitment Coordinator for Foster Care, you will provide administrative supervision of Home Finders in the Foster Care program and will oversee recruitment, training, retention, and case management of prospective and certified foster and kinship families. You will be a representative for the Agency within the community as it pertains to recruitment. You will report to the Director of Foster Parent Recruitment and Retention and will work in a hybrid model.
Responsibilities:
- Provide supervision and professional development of home finders in the program, assuring that workers have the resources needed to perform their job responsibilities.
- Create and implement agency recruitment and retention plans of foster parents and kinship parents.
- Review organization and content of foster parent records to ensure OCFS regulatory standards, COA, and agency standards are met.
- Approval of all certifications, re-certifications and safety assessments of foster and kinship parents. Approve and oversee the implementation of all Performance Improvement Plans and Corrective Actions Plans of foster and kinship parents.
- Oversee the implementation of post certification training opportunities are offered to foster parents.
- Provide proper documentation for all supervisory activities.
Requirements and Education:
- Master’s degree preferred and at least three to four years of requisite experience.
- Experience in child welfare and/or juvenile detention preferred.
- One year supervisory experience preferred.

Lecturer of Biomedical Engineering Position at Union College
The Department of Electrical, Computer and Biomedical Engineering at Union College invites applications for a Lecturer of Biomedical Engineering position, beginning Fall 2024. The position is renewable with a contract period of three years. After six years of employment at Union, Lecturers are eligible for promotion to Senior Lecturer with the possibility of contract lengths up to five years. A Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related field is required. Candidates expecting to complete their doctoral thesis before September 2024 are also welcome to apply. We seek an individual who demonstrates a strong commitment to student-centered undergraduate education, including those with a professional interest in pedagogy. Service duties will include coordinating the Summer Clinical Immersion Program with our local partners, advising our Biomedical Engineering Society student chapter, and coordinating the biomedical engineering seminar series. Although research is not an expectation of this position, the successful candidate will have the option to continue scholarly activity and will have access to College funds and a wide array of advanced instrumentation and facilities. Excellent candidates in all areas of Biomedical Engineering will be considered, but preference will be given to candidates with expertise in biomechanics, biomaterials, and rehabilitation engineering.

Compensation
The annual salary range for this position is $81,000 - $84,000. Except for roles with a set rate of pay, the wage/salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The stated hiring rate/range represents the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate/range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
